What is this? Aflatoxins are harmful substances made by moulds. They can grow on nuts like pistachios if stored badly.
What's happening? Raw pistachio nuts in shells from Turkey were found to have too much aflatoxin. Spain rejected a batch because of this.
Does this affect me? If you bought raw pistachios from Turkey recently, they might be unsafe. Check where your nuts came from.
What should I do? Throw away any raw Turkish pistachios in shells. If you feel unwell after eating them, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
