What is this? Aflatoxins are harmful substances made by moulds. They can sometimes be found in nuts like pistachios.
What's happening? Some pistachio kernels from the United States, sent through Turkey, had too much aflatoxin. Bulgaria stopped these nuts at the border.
Does this affect me? If you bought pistachios in Bulgaria, check the bag for a recall notice. Only affected nuts are a risk.
What should I do? If you have these pistachios, throw them away. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you feel unwell after eating nuts.
