What is this? Aflatoxins are harmful substances made by moulds. They can grow on nuts like pistachios if not stored properly.
What's happening? Some Turkish pistachio kernels in the Netherlands had too much aflatoxin. These nuts were stopped at the border.
Does this affect me? If you bought pistachios recently, check the package. Only some batches are affected.
What should I do? Throw away any pistachios that look old or mouldy. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you feel unwell after eating them.
