What is this? Ground ginger is a spice made from dried ginger root. Some samples have too much of a harmful chemical called benzo(a)pyrene and other similar chemicals.
What's happening? Ground ginger sold in some European countries may have unsafe levels of these chemicals. The problem has been found in products from Czechia.
