What is this? Maiz (corn) can sometimes have tiny, invisible mold poisons called mycotoxins. These can be harmful if eaten.
What's happening? Some maiz coming into Portugal had too much of these poisons. The country stopped it at the border.
Does this affect me? Only if you bought maiz or foods made with it in Portugal. Most safe maiz was sold already.
What should I do? If you have maiz at home, ask your doctor or pharmacist if it is safe to eat.
