What is this? Aflatoxin B1 is a harmful substance sometimes found in pistachios. It can be made by moulds on nuts.
What's happening? Germany found too much aflatoxin B1 in pistachios from Iran. These nuts were stopped at the border.
Does this affect me? Only if you bought pistachios from Iran recently. Most store pistachios are safe.
What should I do? Throw away any Iranian pistachios you have. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you feel unwell after eating them.
