What is this? Aflatoxins are harmful substances sometimes found in nuts like pistachios. They can be made by moulds when food is stored badly.
What's happening? Some pistachios from Iran were found to have too much aflatoxin. Spain stopped these nuts at the border.
Does this affect me? Only if you bought pistachios from Iran recently. Most pistachios in shops are safe.
What should I do? If you have pistachios from Iran, throw them away. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you feel unwell after eating them.
