What is this? A food container lid from Taiwan may have a chemical called 3-MCPD. This chemical can move into food if the lid touches hot or fatty foods.
What's happening? Some lids made from bagasse (a plant material) in Germany may have too much 3-MCPD. This was found in a test.
Does this affect me? If you bought food in Germany with a bagasse lid, you might be affected. The risk is small but serious.
What should I do? Throw away any food with a bagasse lid. Ask your pharmacist or doctor if you feel unwell.
