What is this? Olive oil is a cooking oil made from olives. Pyropheophytin is a natural substance sometimes found in small amounts in old or poorly stored oil.
What's happening? A batch of olive oil from Italy had a little more pyropheophytin than allowed. The problem has been fixed.
Does this affect me? If you bought olive oil in Austria, check the bottle. If it’s old or smells bad, throw it away.
