What is this? Some small balls meant for play can grow very big when wet. They can swell to more than half again their size.
What's happening? These balls are sold as toys. If a child puts one in their mouth and swallows it, the ball may expand inside and block the child’s windpipe.
Does this affect me? This warning is for Finland. Parents and carers of young children should check any water-absorbing balls they have.
What should I do? Stop children from playing with these balls in water. Ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice if a child has swallowed one.
